Mālama ʻāina · Since 1970
Aloha
For 50+ years we have stood with the people of Hawaiʻi — for clean energy, protected land, and a living ocean.
About Us
The land speaks. We answer.
Life of the Land is Hawaiʻi’s oldest environmental advocacy organization. Founded in February 1970 by a group of young mothers alarmed by sewage pollution pouring into the ocean, we have spent over five decades fighting for sound energy and land use policies.
Our mission is to preserve the life of the land through sound energy and land use policies. We are 100% community funded — accepting no government grants — so we answer only to the people of Hawaiʻi.
